I know not many people bother with the message board anymore which is a shame. I haven't posted for sometime myself but sometimes you just got to say what you got to say. So how has the club got into the situation where relegation is a serious possibility (let's face it its been coming for the past 3 or 4 seasons). Why are they (committee) continually accepting fielding players who might be better demonstrating there abilities in a Sunday league and why do they show faith in managers with low win percentage rates. You can't run a team with minimal budget and expect to progress at any level. Maybe the current manager was right in his recent comment about gne being a northwest counties club because maybe that's what they want. No ambition! No imagination! Crowds have been up this season but I won't b one of the 100 people and a couple dogs watching nwcfl next season or the many seasons to follow... been there and done that! Absolute rubbish this season and quite preventable well done they for being content to go backwards.

There are many of us who totally agree with you. Glossop North End management have not progressed this club for many seasons now. Just how the board can maintain a manager who declares his NPLW team is a NWCFL outfit is baffling. In most other clubs he would be gone. This team is one he has put together and coached. He has to be accountable for their results which suggest they are shortly to fall into the bottom two. I say bring in fresh ideas now with 11 games to go before it is too late. Yes crowds are up at Surrey Street with 1% o Glossop's population attending compared with 7.8% of Macclesfield's population watching their team. That wouldn't happen if they were a losing outfit. GNE are a losing outfit and have been for years but the they would get significantly bigger crowds if they were serial winners. The board would say sponsorship is hard to find well all other clubs are in the same situation but manage to find it. I would like see us on a pa

with Hyde United. So the bottom line is change or sink in to the abyss of NWCFL and like you Lazarus my interest will wane. Let's hope we can stay up. GLOSSOPSOUTHEND

I can remember gne playing the likes of Fleetwood town and afc fylde back in the day and where are those two clubs now who both kicked on after Wembley appearances in the fa vase and trophy as well in fyldes case. We had 2 wembley finals in 5 years and where are we? I know sponsorship deals are hard to come by, I know money is tight. I'm not expecting gne to get into the conference or football league but what I was hoping was that we could have at least established ourselves in the npl premier division and built on the success that Chris wilcox brought to us during his 4 years at the club (how distant those memories seem now). I've always maintained that this town could support a club at higher level but people won't turn up to watch rubbish on a regular basis it's as simple as that. Speculate to accumulate or wither and die. Enough said.

Hate to see us get relegated after all the hard work people have put into the club to get us to were we are today but if changes aren't made that's were we are going. Also wanted to comment on the words from our so called manager that we are a North West Counties club can someone from the board come on here and explain to the fans who pay every week to watch and follow the club why this man has not been removed from his position and give us a fighting change of staving of relegation with someone else in charge.

Look at some of the clubs in the NWCFL. Been there for as long as I’ve been watching Glossop - Winsford, Congleton, West Didsbury and Chorlton, Ashton United etc etc
Look at Kendal Town. Relegated into that league and now sitting in 13th position.
My point? Just highlighting how difficult a league it is/was to get out of. The only positive I can see is that it looks like the top two get promoted where as when we won it it was only the winners that did with no play offs (still looks like no play offs)
My fear? We go down, then that’s it. We’ll be a NWCFL club appointing managers to just keep us in the league so we don’t end up folding, as it was for my first 20 years of watching Glossop.
Please don’t let this be the case.
9 games left (not 9 or 10 as the manager kept saying in his interview after the defeat to Colne)

Most of you don't like me and honestly don't care what you think of me. Due to being ill and was in hospital for a period of time and the business I run. I have not been to a game this season. For the ones who don't know or have forgot. I am not a GNE fan. I'm just a fan of non-league football and when I can attend non-league games. I think the issue is starts with management team who are simply not good enough & the board. They need to be paying better wages to attract a better quality of player. Players of this level still want to earn as much as they can. The club need to attract a better quality of player but without the decent wages. They are only going to get 2nd rate players. I'm sorry to say but looks like your going down and the club is in free fall. Get rid of the board who haven't a clue. Get a new manager in ASAP and you might just stand a chance of saving your club.

If I may give an honest opinion awelsh1978, your comments on here often mention your business interests/money, and that is the reason they are often divisive. Most people on here don't mention any credentials beyond being a fan/follower of the club. That being said, I respect your right to voice your opinion on here. You are absolutely right that better wages attract better players. I also know, from speaking with current board members, that GNEs budget is one of the smallest in this league and is not even on a par with some of the top teams in the NWCFL. However, I was also informed that additional money had been made available to the management earlier in the season but has either not been spent or has been spent poorly. An example of this being a new striker who was due to be part of the playing squad today but simply did not turn up. Sadly, as a team without a benefactor and with limited commercial means there is only so much the board can do. Love them or hate them, the board have done what they can money-wise to stave of what seems to the be inevitable prospect of relegation. Having been stung before by financial mismanagement there will always be a reluctance to put the club in that kind of position again. There are other decisions that have or have not been made by the board between pre-season up until now that the fans may not like, but I can't bring myself to criticise the financial management of the club. In my opinion, now (or maybe 2 or 3 games ago) would be the time for a change in management. It currently seems like a lost cause fighting against relegation, with a manager who in his own words called us a North West Counties side punching above our weight. Every fan I know who has heard that comment agrees that he should go, as it seems he is trying to justify the poor results rather than trying to change them. That comment alone shows he has no ambition beyond dragging the club down to the division below, and is an insult to every fan and volunteer who has helped the club get to this level. My question is, what harm could a new management team do now? We're already on a downward spiral, so could a new manager do any worse?
