Real possibility of finishing second bottom. What a disastrous season.

Surprised people are not blaming the manager. You can't build a house overnight. People have to understand a rebuilding process takes time. In football though you sadly don't get that time.

For me the recruitment during the summer is the issue and the current manager can, to a large extent, only play the hand he's been dealt. I would expect vast improvement from August...assuming we stay up.

Hopefully after charging NPL admission for an entire NWCFL season they will have some money to invest in players.

Back to original question, how many go down this season? Squires Gate's win last night puts us closer to what might be the 'drop zone'.
4 will come up, 2 will go up, but will presumably be replaced by teams coming down. We already have a 24 team league. Are GNE in danger of Step 6 football next season?

Relegation rules were changed again this season. NWC website has shown all season bottom club only to go down - currently showing confirmed as Skem!

You can't get more official than the NWCFL website - it has drawn the relegation & promotion lines for the 3 divisions all season. The FA have restructured things again this season!

Starting this season, the Premier Division (Step 5) in the league will promote two clubs; one as champions and one via a four-team play-off. This replaces the previous inter-step play-off system. For this season only, there will be only one club relegated from the division.

I've had a bit of a look at this, and it appears that only one go down. Four will come up, but two will go up. Looking at the relegation places in the NPL there will be nobody coming down.
That still leaves a division of 25 teams. Our risk is going to be sideways movement. Although all our transport links are with the Manchester area, the FA tends not to take that into account and there is a danger we could me moved into the NCEL. Cheadle Town must also be concerned about a move to the Midlands League. However, Brocton FC have won Div 1 and will surely go to the Midlands League, so I guess it depends on whether the Premier League stays at 24 teams or is forced to move to 22...
