Today, Michael Worthington and Glossop North End Football Club have amicably parted ways. As the team finds itself in the 22nd position, having secured only 4 wins (15 points) out of 20 games, the Board has determined that a change is necessary. Richard Brodie will assume interim managerial responsibilities while the Club embarks on a comprehensive search for a new Manager. Richard will convene with the squad tomorrow evening, and we will provide further updates as the process unfolds. The Board extends its gratitude to Michael for his unwavering dedication and hard work throughout the season and wishes him the very best in his future endeavours.
(Richard Brodie was player manager of Skelmersdale last season)

The board have made the best decision in getting rid of him. It is a shame but he was simply not good enough. Now if I was on the board then i would be looking at the following. Chris Wilcox, Steve Cunningham or David Fish. Sadly I reckon money would be a issue and GNE could not afford them. I would like to know other people's thoughts.

Money can always be an issue, we will have to see who applies. Maybe money won't be an issue this time because we're you not in discussions about donating a large sum to the club. I seem to remember a thread in the summer.

A change in manager is never an easy decision to make, and I'm with the club in that it's been made for the right reasons and I wish Michael the best of luck where ever his footballing future takes him.
The responses on social media from players and fans shows testament to him being a decent chap who's trying his hardest albeit agrieved by the decision.
When he was appointed, a freshly relegated Glossop North End is a mammoth first senior role far for someone with limited experience, exposure, and connections at this level - I wasn't even aware that under 23's football was a thing, nevermind in Clitheroe. The board must have bought in on his vision for the club to merit his appointment but it's not played out as hoped or envisioned.
What are the expectations of the new manager and how do they align with that of supporters?
- Avoid relegation this season - Build a squad for promotion next season
At the end of last season there was the post on social media (some may argue too soon) stating ambition to return to the NPL, I'd like a statement from the board when they announce a new manager to support their appointment along with their expectations.
