Well a truly dismal result at Kidsgrove Athletic to end what has been a dismal season for Glossop North End FC.
The inability to overturn a 2-0 deficit against nine men with 20 minutes to go is hard to consider. My season thoughts later on.

A very good Kidsgrove crowd of 380 saw the final top FCA points winners in MAGGOTDANGLER and MRSGAZFITT. Very good indeed.
FCA points gained were:
PREMIERSHIP
020 MAGGOTDANGLER
012 DORIS78
006 PULLMYFINGER
004 SCOUSE&PROUD
002 STUART DYSON
THE STIFFS
020 MRSGAZFITT
012 GAZFITT
006 GORGYPEGG
004 PLUMBUD
002 MRWALSH
So Final Standings for FCA season 2021/22 are:
PREMIERSHIP
303 SCOUSE&PROUD (Champion)
274 MAGGOTDANGLER
257 DORIS78
243 BANDIT18
217 PULLMYFINGER
181 STUART DYSON

Congratulations to SCOUSE&PROUD and his mate Ted Rogers who is our tenacious champion.
Also to GLOSSOPSOUTHEND who topped The STIFFS so unspectacularly.
But well done to all who played this season.

My thoughts on GLOSSOPNORTHEND FC season are that they are a club that are not progressing and have not done so for several seasons now. GNE's average crowd of 305 placed them 13th in the NPL West attendance table. This represents roughly 0.76% of Glossop's population. Given GNE's on pitch results that does not seem too bad. However GNE find it hard to raise sponsorship so have to rely a lot on gate money. This is a scratchers living, they are lowest attendance of the East of Manchester clubs and have to compete against the traditional exodus from the town to City/United on Saturday matches plus sports on TV when midweek games are on. Facilities are basic at Surrey Street and are likely to continue to be so with no money for investment in the ground and no prospect of playing in higher step football. Indeed what seems more likely is a gradual decline and fading into the NWCFL and that will bring even less crowds and less money.
The good folks who administer the club have a thankless task and it seems to be a labour of love. GNE need strong investment which will allow management to recruit a calibre of player, particularly goal scorers. It certainly is not there now.
As for present management/coaching set up my own opinion is that they have tried their best but are not good enough to take GNE forward.
It has been one of the most uninteresting seasons I can remember. Just nine league wins and many draws will not draw crowds next season. Still we shall have the visit of Macclesfield FC next season.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As for FCA it has also been a rather disappointing season with several players just 'disappearing'. Not even the courtesy of a reply to my messages but I see them still visiting the forum page.
I created FCA nine years ago to add a little bit more interest to GNE games via The Forum, which I think is an important voice for followers of the club. It used to busy with banter and information but now like the club it has gone very quiet, it contains excellent photographs and FCA but hardly anything else. Indicative of indifference? Maybe/maybe not.
There was a time when every town needed a football club to raise its profile in the land. Well, for me, nothing has changed and being an 'expat Glossopian' it means I think of Glossop at least on Saturdays.
I have thought long and hard as to whether to continue FCA next season. The answer to that is Yes. It might have a different format but I must be loyal to those FCAers who continue to play and have a bit of fun with it. And that is what it is. JUST A BIT OF FUN.
So FCAers thanks for your loyalty and do forgive my gaffs, mistakes and howlers.
Also thanks to gainsayers, naysayers, groaners, moaners, barflys, bar staff, gate people, groundstaff, administrators, them int scrattin shed. Kit staff, Coaches and sponsers.
So have a good summer and FCA will be back in August
THANKYOU SO MUCH
