There were some very big crowds in non-league today - with 830 at this game. (1679 at Clitheroe v Colne {5-1} and 2150 at Marine v Bootle {0-3})
To be honest it was a poor game. GNE were without Lee Wilshaw but Sam Barratt and Ekow Coker did a good job against a big side. It was easy to see why Mossley have had a bad run - they did not impress. At half time we thought GNE could steal the three points but we did not manage to trouble the home keeper. With the vocal crowd behind them, Mossley had the clearer chances but, once again, Harry Allen was superb. I nearly wrote that they created chances but that would be going too far - Mossley were very much long throw / long ball / corners and free kicks and bring up more big men.
GNE were below the standard they have set in the last few games but we can take two things from this game - first, the run continues and we are now unbeaten in nine. Secondly we stayed focused and committed and resisted some strong physical pressure in the second half.
