For those who don't have social media, my apologies, i forgot to post this on here.
The club is doing a virtual football card.
The teams are £10 with the winner receiving £150.
An up to date card is pictured.
please donate (not a purchase or Paypal take their cut) through paypal.me/GlossopNorthEnd with your name and team you have selected. if you chose a team that has gone, i will be in touch for you to select another team.
Are we setting up a GoFundMe or equivalent page? Lots of other Clubs are doing this, and very sucessfully and it does seems a great way for Clubs to reach the people they wouldn't normally do so with fundraising activities. Personally I think this type of fundraiser would be beneficial. Also it allows people to donate as little or a much as they want. Someone may have seen the football card but has been put off by £10 as they can only afford to give £5. Often asking for a minimum donation excludes a lot of people and then their money goes else where.
Hi Archie, we are excepting donations via PayPal, the link and instructions to PayPal are in the first post on this thread.or you can do a bank transfer straight into our account. If you prefer bank transfer just leave a message on here and I will send you the details. There is no minimum donation and we are grateful for every penny our supporters send.We have done a variety of ways to raise money and keep the club afloat. We have had straight donations, the virtual football where supporters donated the equivalent of what they would spend at a match and now we have tried the Football cards.
It needs advertising much, much more that people can make donations via Paypal then. The first I'd heard of this was earlier today when I received a DM on here from Dan. Many Clubs are receiving help from football fans from much further afield of their location so if I who lives in the community wasn't aware of this, then I very much doubt these people would be. We really do need to be reaching all football fans, not just GNE fans, during these very uncertain times.
Hi Archie. I presume your thinking of Matlock, with their Hollywood hero who is now their vice chairman.
I would love to think that we might get someone like that, however i don't believe, personally, that having a GoFund me site as well as PayPal (where GoFuns me takes a cut) is not essential..... at the moment. However the board never rule out any idea that could raise funds for the Hillmen.
I love your passion for the club, and if you have any other ideas, please do shout out.
Archie, you are right in that we could advertise more. You can never do enough. We have advertised on Twitter,Facebook and the message board.Supporters like yourself can help by sharing our Facebook posts and retweet our Twitter. As for reaching our supporters far and wide we have not done to badly. We have had a donation from Los Angeles which is 5312 miles away.We have had donations from more than 60 people plus the 55 supporters who donate every month via the friends of gne. As you say these are uncertain times but our supporters have done us proud.
