Just seen in the nostalgia section in the Chron.that 50 years ago this week, Glossops keeper Reg Adie scored twice in a 3-3 draw with Hyde United Reserves. He played up front due to injuries and this old GNE fan was at the game. Sometimes it seems a long time ago but some of the games that season are still fresh(ish). Anyone else out there who was around Surrey Street in those days? I can only think of Dave Booth.
I watched my first game in 1946-47 season at the North Road ground. I was 5 at the time and watched it from the Glossop station signal box (Now long gone) I cannot remember much about it except there was a large rowdy crowd. I think we ended up 4th or 5th in the Manchester league.
